Large projects require multiple Scrum Teams to work in parallel. The Chief Scrum Master is responsible for coordinating activities of multiple Scrum Teams to develop potentially shippable product increments/deliverables. The Chief Scrum Master fosters collaboration and coaches others with the implementation of Scrum for a smooth delivery of the project’s products. Apart from clearing impediments and ensuring a conducive project environment for the Scrum Teams, the Chief Scrum Master collaborates with the Chief Product Owner, other Scrum Masters, and Product Owners in activities such as developing the list of components and resources needed in common for all teams throughout the project.

Course Outcomes

Course Methodology

We promise a highly engaging course that ensures higher retention of concepts and theories.
Students are encouraged to work through the concepts rather than just listen to the concepts. This provides a better internalization of concepts.
Role-plays are conducted and practical implementation issues are discussed for all parts of the Scrum flow.
A central case study is integrated into the course outline to allow students to simulate a product development exercise using Scrum methodology.

Prerequisites

There is no formal prerequisite for this certification. However, it is preferable to complete the Scrum Master Certified (SMC®) certification before applying for the Scaled Scrum Master certification.

Maintaining Certification

Take SDC^® Recertification exam every 3 years or earn any SCRUMstudy™ Certification.

A SCRUMstudy™ certificate should be renewed within three calendar years of its issue date. As the Scrum/Agile field is maturing, it is important for practitioners to be abreast of current and latest innovations in the field. For example, the current version of the SBOK™ Guide includes details on Scaling Scrum for Large Projects and Scaling Scrum for the Enterprise. Sections on improving the Scrum Guidance Body and Planning in Scrum have also been updated. Maintaining a certificate enables a student to demonstrate his/her commitment to continuing learning. It also demonstrates the student’s knowledge of Scrum/Agile to employers, peers and colleagues.

A student can renew his/her certificate in the following ways:

Renew Through Your Training Provider (ATP):

Students may contact their Authorized Training Provider (ATP) directly for assistance with recertification. ATPs may be able to offer students cost-effective options for recertifying.

Note Students can purchase Recertification exam or SCRUMstudy™ certification course from an Authorized Training Partner (A.T.P.) in their region to get discounts and additional Certification/Recertification options. Students also have the option to purchase directly from SCRUMstudy™.
Re-Certification:

Students can renew all their existing certifications on SCRUMstudy by taking the Recertification Exam through their SCRUMstudy account.

This is a quick and affordable option for students who simply wish to extend the validity of their current certification.

The Recertification course is not as extensive as the full Certification course and includes only half the number of exam questions. A student can pass the Recertification Exam with just a few hours of study.

Passing the Recertification Exam implies that the student has reviewed the latest concepts from the SBOK Guide. As such, all previous certifications held by the student will be renewed for 3 years from the date of passing this exam.
Self-Certification:

This is a simple recertification process in which students can renew all their existing certifications on SCRUMstudy through a Self-Certification method. Students must confirm that they have completed 40 hours of study relevant to Scrum within the past 3 years.

They are also required to provide a brief write-up describing their self-study during this period and can renew their certifications by paying the applicable self-certification fee.
Upgrade via Higher-Level Certification:

Students can also renew their certification by enrolling in a higher-level SCRUMstudy course. This can be purchased after the student logs into their online portal.

Once the student completes and passes the higher-level certification, all previous certifications under the same brand are automatically renewed for another 3 years.

This option is ideal for students who wish to advance their knowledge while renewing their existing credentials.

Certification Hierarchy

SCRUMstudy™ certified professionals help organizations improve their project delivery processes which leads to increased ROI. Their specific Scrum knowledge promotes a practical approach to product development, which includes the anticipation and response to issues and changes in a timely manner

Though there is no mandatory prerequisite for most of the SCRUMstudy™ certifications, it may help to follow the preferred hierarchical structure.

Starting July 1st 2025, all SCRUMstudy™ certifications will be based on SBOK^® Guide, Fifth Edition.
