This introductory module looks at the main features of the course, including its learning plan, aims, objectives, and structure.
Students receive a syllabus, diagram pack, glossary, and further reading and links document with URLs for downloading copies of essential M_o_R publications.
The module also addresses many of the most frequently asked questions surrounding M_o_R.
Module 1: Introduction to M_o_R
This module provides an overview of the M_o_R framework as well as the actions involved in its implementation.
The module goes on to address the benefits of risk management before describing the four M_o_R perspectives and risk specialisms and how they are used.
Module 2: The M_o_R Perspectives
This module describes the four M_o_R Perspectives and the roles and responsibilities related to them. It then examines Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and the Central Risk Function.
Module 3: The M_o_R Principles
This module examines the eight M_o_R Principles, along with their purposes and outcomes. It also describes the techniques and tools used to identify contexts and engage with stakeholders.
Module 4: The M_o_R Approach
This module describes how to develop an approach to risk management. It also outlines what documents are required to do so.
Module 5: Memory Game
This module features a memory game that reviews the key terms related to M_o_R’s Principles, Perspectives, and Approach.
Module 6: The M_o_R Process Part 1
This module starts with an explanation of the four process steps of M_o_R. It explores the ‘Identify’ step and describes several related tools and techniques.
Module 7: The M_o_R Process Part 2
This module looks at the Assess, Plan, and Implement steps, as well as several tools and techniques associated with them. It also describes options for risk response and contingency planning.

Module 1: Foundation Recap 1
This module returns to the Perspectives, Approach, and Principles of M_o_R. It also helps students understand how to measure the value of M_o_R before covering supporting documents such as the Issue Register.
Module 2: Foundation Recap 2
The module returns to the M_o_R Process and how to embed and review M_o_R within an organization. It then expands on the tools and techniques of the framework and how they are used at different steps within the Process.
Module 3: M_o_R Practitioner Scenario Introduction
This module establishes a scenario-based practice. It uses this to provide guidance on the question types found in the M_o_R Practitioner certification exam.
The module also outlines how to navigate the rest of the course and how the scenario will be used later on.
Module 4: The Strategic Perspective
This module presents a scenario-based test situation. The scenario applies M_o_R from different perspectives and concludes with a 20-mark exam with questions that ask students to consider the scenario from a strategic viewpoint.
Module 5: The Programme Perspective
This module shifts focus to the Program Perspective. It focuses on the realistic application of M_o_R from this viewpoint and concludes with another 20-mark exam.
Module 6: The Project Perspective
This module switches to the Project Perspective. As previously, the module then looks at the realistic application of M_o_R from this viewpoint and concludes with a 20-mark exam.
Module 7: The Operational Perspective
This module addresses the final perspective of M_o_R, Operational. The module covers the realistic application of M_o_R from this viewpoint before moving on to a 20-mark exam.
Module 8: M_o_R Practitioner Wrap-up
This final module offers a summary of all the key points covered throughout the course. Students are advised to revisit previous modules to become as familiar as possible with the course material before attempting the official exam.
Practice Exam Simulators
This module features a short video on how to best approach the M_o_R Practitioner exam. It also revisits several useful techniques covered elsewhere in the course.
The module also features two full practice exams, one provided by AXELOS and the other by Good e-Learning.
PeopleCert Exam Information
Your exam voucher will be sent to you shortly after you purchase your course. The exam voucher must be redeemed on the PeopleCert website before starting your course. Redeeming the exam voucher allows customers to access the official eBook.
PeopleCert exams can be taken online, through your web browser or using ExamShield proctoring software. Candidates choose how to take their exam in their account area on the PeopleCert website.
PeopleCert operate an exam insurance scheme called Take2. If you would like the opportunity to retake the exam , you must purchase Take2 before taking your exam.
Take2 can be purchased through your PeopleCert account up to 15 minutes before your exam.
Alternatively, you can become a PeopleCert Plus member to receive a free resit for all certifications you take.
Management of Risk (M_o_R) Foundation exam:
- This is a multiple choice exam consisting of 75 questions (5 questions are ‘trial questions’ which do not contribute to the overall score)
- There is a time limit of 60 minutes to complete the exam
- The exam is closed book, with only the provided materials being permitted for use
- The pass mark for the exam is 50%: you must get 35 out of 70 questions correct
Management of Risk (M_o_R) Practitioner exam:
- The exam features objective testing
- There are four questions per paper, with 20 marks available per question
- Students must score at least 40 marks to pass (50%)
- The exam lasts three hours (180 minutes)
- The exam is open-book. Candidates may use the official printed hard copy of the ‘Management of Risk: Guidance for Practitioners’ guide. The ‘ABC Guide Part A Example Techniques’ guidance document is also allowed. The manual may be annotated and tabulated, but no sticky notes and loose-leaf papers containing additional notes will be allowed

What do I need to know about the M_o_R exam?
The M_o_R Foundation exam is 60 minutes (one hour) long and consists of 75 questions. Five of these are trial questions, meaning that the total number of marks is 70. Candidates must score at least 35 marks (50%) in order to pass. The exam is closed book. Passing the M_o_R Foundation exam is a prerequisite to sitting the Practitioner exam.
What other frameworks can complement M_o_R?
